Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds nascono da un’idea di Nick Cave, del poli strumentista Mick Harvey e del chitarrista Blixa Bargeld, dopo la rottura dei The Birthday Party (dove Nick Cave era cantante).
A partire dall’uscita di From Her to Eternity del 1984, realizzeranno 16 album in studio, fino ad arrivare all’ultimo lavoro pubblicato nel settembre 2016, Skeleton Tree.
Attualmente formato da Nick Cave, Warren Ellis, Martyn Casey, Jim Sclavunos, Thomas Wydler Conway Savage e George Vjestica il gruppo molto apprezzato dalla critica, è noto per la sua produzione d'avanguardia, audace e vitale.
Il progetto vanta più di un milione di copie vendute fino ad oggi nel Regno Unito, 3 dischi d'argento e 5 dischi d'oro, oltre ad essere presente 72 volte nella Top40, di cui 28 nella Top5, e raggiungendo il gradino più alto del podio per 6 volte.
Ad influenzare il gruppo troviamo nomi noti di artisti della portata di Johnny Cash, Metallica, e The Arctic Monkeys.
