Joe Simon – con Jack Kirby – ha creato uno degli eroi americani più longevi, Capitan America, per la Timely Comics, l’azienda che un giorno sarebbe diventata la Marvel. Autentico pioniere, Simon è stato un ottimo creatore, editor, sceneggiatore, matitista, inchiostratore e uomo d’affari. Nato nel 1913 e cresciuto a Rachester, nello Stato di New York, figlio di un sarto, iniziò la sua carriera creando strisce per i quotidiani, poi nel 1938 si trasferì a New York City, dove iniziò a lavorare nell’ancora incerto business dei fumetti.
