She has become a cigarette-smoking, wise-cracking, New York career woman, who is in love with a married man. But when Ronit's father dies she is called back into the very different world of her childhood, a world she thought she had left far behind. The orthodox Jewish suburb of Hendon, north London is outraged by Ronit and her provocative ways. But Ronit is shocked too by the confrontation with her past. 1974

Naomi Alderman è nata nel 1974 ed è cresciuta nella comunità ebraica ortodossa di Hendon, Londra, dove è tornata a vivere dopo aver passato alcuni anni a New York. Con il suo romanzo di esordio Disobbedienza (Nottetempo, 2007) si è aggiudicata il prestigioso Orange Prize for New Writers 2006 e il Sunday Times Young Writer of the Year Award 2007. Nel 2011 nottetempo ha pubblicato il suo secondo romanzo, Senza toccare il fondo. Nel 2013, nell’ambito del progetto “Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative”, suo mentore è stata Margaret Atwood. Ne è nata una collaborazione non solo in campo letterario (insieme hanno scritto il racconto The Happy Zombie Family Sunrise per la comunità on line Wattpad), ma...
