Chris Riddell è uno tra i più raffinati autori e illustratori per bambini a livello mondiale. Ha realizzato più di 100 libri e ha vinto numerosissimi premi. Per Il Castoro, è autore e illustratore della serie di Ottoline (della quale l'ultimo volume, Ottoline e la volpe viola, esce nel 2017 per Il Castoro) e illustratore dell’adattamento del Don Chisciotte raccontato da Martin Jenkins. Nel giugno 2015, Riddell è stato nominato Waterstones Children’s Laureate. Questo riconoscimento inglese – il più importante e prestigioso – viene conferito ogni due anni a chi si è distinto con contributi straordinari nel campo della letteratura per ragazzi. Chris Riddell è anche vignettista politico dell’«Observer».
