They could only be happy together in the house for a short time because he was shot down as a pilot in the First World War. Lilith buried him in the small chapel in the garden, but she only survived him for a short time. She was also buried in the little chapel. Fate repeated itself for the following inhabitants. They too were only able to live very happily in the house by the lake for a few years until the Second World War struck this peaceful world. During the war years, there was heavy destruction, many dead and injured and atrocities committed by the Germans against the population. The Haus am See was secluded, it was not hit and offered refuge to many relatives, friends and Jewish victims of persecution. For a few years, the Haus am See was repeatedly the home of lovers who were separated by war and death. But their love could not be destroyed. It is said that on nights full of stars, the white shadows of lovers walk in the garden and dance to tender music. Roses and chrysanthemums bloom miraculously and bear witness to the fact that love is stronger than death.
