Chris Shafer moved to Miami to help his best friend Wes run the construction company. Chris had been Wes's foreman since Wes started the company. After Wes and Sylvia had gotten married, Wes picked up and moved to Miami, where Sylvia opened a new boutique. Wes offered him a partnership if he would move to Miami and help him rebuild the company. Chris accepted because it gives him the chance to really own his own business outside of his family company.
