1960, Fife

Nato in Scozia nel 1960, Ian Rankin dopo essersi laureato all’Università di Edimburgo ha lavorato come vendemmiatore, porcaro, ispettore del fisco, ricercatore sull’alcolismo, giornalista musicale e musicista punk. Il suo primo romanzo che vede come protagonista l’ispettore John Rebus, Cerchi e croci, è stato pubblicato nel 1987. Insignito dell’OBE (Ordine dell’Impero britannico) nel 2002, Rankin è stato scelto come Hawthornden Fellow e ha vinto in passato il prestigioso Chandler-Fulbright Award, oltre a due Dagger in the Library Award della Crime Writers’ Association, per due suoi racconti. Nel 1997 ha ricevuto dalla stessa associazione il Macallan Gold Dagger of Fiction per Morte grezza, selezionato anche per il premio «Edgar»...
