È autore di numerosi romanzi Young Adult molto acclamati e docente di scrittura creativa alla Lesley University. È nato a Boston, dove si è laureato all’Emerson College. Con il suo romanzo Freewill ha vinto il Printz Honor Award. Nel 2019 è uscito Imperdonabile (Il Castoro) finalista al National Book Award.
