Aesop’s Fables is a collection of stories attributed to Aesop (c. 620-560 BCE), thought to have been a slave in ancient Greece. Aesop’s fables are generally short, feature animals talking and acting like humans, and are instructive, typically ending with a moral lesson. The first collection of Aesop’s fables was compiled in the fourth century BCE by Demetrius of Phalerum, primarily for the use of orators, and it was not until the eighteenth century that the fables were published for children. Over the centuries, fables such as "The Fox and the Crow" or "The North Wind and the Sun", have shown remarkable durability, and have been translated into many languages.
