Eoin Colfer è nato in Irlanda, a Wexford, nel 1965. Ha iniziato a scrivere prestissimo, soprattutto commedie, costringendo i suoi compagni di scuola a recitarle, e poi non ha più smesso: per le sue opere ha ottenuto premi e riconoscimenti, raggiungendo la notorietà internazionale grazie alla saga dedicata allle avventure di Artemis Fowl (pubblicata in Italia da Mondadori), che ha ventuto milioni di copie in tutto il mondo. Terminata questa saga Eoin Colfer ne ha iniziata una nuova, intitolata T.E.M.P.O.: il primo romanzo che ne fa parte viene pubblicato in Italia nel 2014, il secondo nel 2015, il terzo nel 2017. Rimane un mistero il punto preciso dell'Irlanda in cui vive attualmente.
