Before We Were Us

This audiobook is narrated by a digital voice. What if the love of your life found you through a storage unit full of journals you never meant anyone to read? Delphine Czernin makes a living sorting through abandoned things. Old furniture. Forgotten boxes. Other people’s messes. Then she opens Unit 247 and finds something different: six journals, one silent mystery, and page after page written by a man who seems to know her before they have even met. The novel unfolds through a chain of charged encounters, intimate discoveries, and carefully built trust across chapters like “The Unit,” “The Journals,” “The Margins,” “The Neighbor,” “The First Entry,” and beyond, as Del and Theo move from strangers to something far more dangerous: people who truly see each other. He is quiet, brilliant, and a little broken. She is sharp, guarded, and very good at pretending she does not need anyone. Together, they begin a slow-burn journey through grief, longing, memory, and the terrifying possibility of being loved for who they really are. Add in a suspicious rival, a tender eccentric neighbor, family wounds, ceramic frogs, and just enough emotional chaos to keep things interesting, and this romance becomes impossible to put down. If you love contemporary romance with emotional depth, razor-sharp dialogue, strange little details, and chemistry that simmers before it explodes, this story will stay with you. Expect tension. Expect healing. Expect to whisper “just one more chapter” and absolutely not mean it.
