Behind The Skyline

Wolfgang Mitschke’s new release Behind the Skyline is a heartfelt tribute to German jazz pianist Horst Jankowski. Recorded in the Rhineland, the album blends vintage jazz spirit with Mitschke’s own compositions, weaving standards from the Great American Songbook alongside original works. The title track unfolds as a trilogy of moods, reflecting Mitschke’s fascination with hidden layers ‘behind the skyline’. With charming, light-footed piano lines and a warm dedication to Jankowski’s legacy, the album captures both nostalgia and innovation, offering listeners a timeless journey through jazz history with Mitschke’s unmistakably personal touch.
