BIGFOOT: SURROUNDED AND AFRAID

Mara Voss has spent years pretending she does not love either of her two closest friends. Caleb Shaw is the loyal wilderness guide who has always chosen Mara, even when she chose the reckless, magnetic Theo Mercer instead. Their weekend hike into Washington's Olympic backcountry is supposed to repair the friendship before the triangle destroys it. Then a landslide erases the trail. Their satellite messenger vanishes. Something huge begins moving between the trees. By morning, Mara, Caleb, and Theo understand the truth: they are not being hunted by one Bigfoot. They are surrounded by a troop that knows the mountain better than any map. The creatures use mimicry, stone, darkness, and one another. They separate the friends, test their loyalties, and drive them toward an abandoned survey tunnel beneath the ridge. There, the trio discovers a hidden nursery poisoned by an illegal mining operation—and evidence that Theo's missing footage could expose the men who caused the disaster. To escape, Mara must decide who she trusts when trust is the only shelter left. Caleb can get them out, but only if Mara stops protecting him from the truth. Theo knows why the Bigfoots are keeping them alive, but admitting it may make him the real danger. As the troop closes in and the mountain begins to collapse, the friends must choose between saving themselves and saving the secret that could destroy the last wild family of its kind.
