Compositore austriaco.Le vicende biografiche. Iniziò lo studio della musica sotto la guida del cugino J.M. Franck; a sei anni conosceva già molti degli strumenti che si usavano in orchestra; a otto anni si trasferì a Vienna, essendo stato prescelto da G. Reutter quale ragazzo cantore per la cappella di S. Stefano. Qui proseguì gli studi di canto, di violino, di clavicembalo e di composizione, raggiungendo un tale grado di maestria che quando, giunto alla muta della voce, fu dimesso dal coro, era già in grado di affrontare la professione di musicista. Ogni tipo di attività musicale gli era congeniale: dava lezioni di clavicembalo, suonava il violino in orchestra, scriveva facili composizioni «alla moda», accompagnava strumentisti e cantanti.
