The Day Kindness Came

“A book about kindness feels especially meaningful right now. It’s one of the most important values we can teach our children and model every single day. …” —Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt, New York Times bestselling author When a gentle girl named Kindness wanders into the Whispering Woods, everything begins to change. The trees that once shivered in fear grow still. The animals who hid in shadows start to peek out. And Bear—who has always felt too big, too different, too misunderstood—finds, for the very first time, that someone truly sees him. Told with lyrical warmth and compassion, The Day Kindness Came is a heart-opening tale about the courage it takes to be kind and the magic that happens when we choose understanding over fear. With Phyllis Harris’s soft, sketchbook-style illustrations that dance with emotion, this timeless picture book reminds readers young and old that kindness isn’t just something we feel—it’s something we should do. A perfect story for classrooms, bedtime, and anyone who believes that even the smallest act of kindness can make the world a brighter place. Perfect for children ages four to eight.
