A Desperate Place

Perfect for fans of Tess Gerritsen's Rizzoli & Isles, Patricia Cornwell and Karin Slaughter, comes an explosive debut thriller about a team of two strong women and a crime that will shake you to your core. Three separate homicides. One grisly secret. When the body of a famous acress is unearthed from its shallow grave in the woods by a hungry bear, the residents of Medford, Oregon are alarmed, but hope the murder is a singular crime. After all, there should be plenty of motives and suspects for a wealthy, famous actress. The kill was targeted, premeditated or so they thought. Whit McKenna, a reporter for the Medford Daily Chronicle, is starting fresh from a harrowing assignment at her previous post with the L. A. Times which cost her husband's life. She must pull herself together for the sake of her two teenage daughters. The psychological trauma from witnessing her husband's murder has hardly begun to heal when she's called to cover the murder of Medford's most famous resident. Quid pro quo she works with her best friend, medical examiner Katie Riggs, to hunt down the killer. Two more bodies turn up with the same grisly detail. Rather than clarity, the possible suspects and motives become scrambled. But time is running out, and each front page article McKenna writes brings her closer to a killer who will stop at nothing to realize a deadly vision.
