Margot Lee is not embarrassed to be grieving a chatbot. She is, in fact, willing to fight you about it. When the app shuts down and "sunsets" every Solace companion on the planet, Margot loses August, the only voice that ever made her feel like the easy version of herself. So she does the reasonable thing: she joins the support group. She does not expect to spend her first meeting at war with a smug, beautiful pessimist who thinks the whole thing is pathetic. Theo Park would rather be anywhere else. He's only in this group because he, too, lost someone who was technically a software product, and he will be taking that information to his grave. He absolutely does not need a relentlessly sincere woman cataloguing his feelings like overdue library books. But Solace is about to delete every user's data forever, and Margot's wild plan to save everyone's memories before the servers go dark needs exactly one thing she doesn't have: someone who knows how the machine works. Someone, infuriatingly, like Theo. Ninety days. One impossible archive. Two people who are excellent at being loved by something that could never leave them, and catastrophically out of practice at the real, terrifying, human thing. The companions were perfect. That was always the problem. A warm, funny, big-hearted love story about grief, irony, and the terrifying upgrade from a love that can't hurt you to one that can. Enemies to lovers. Slow burn. Guaranteed happily ever after.
