Il 3 dicembre si celebra il 50esimo anniversario del documentario trasmesso dalla NBC “Singer Presents…ELVIS” (noto come ’68 Comeback Special). Lo speciale, registrato in più sessioni nel giugno 1968, mostrava tutta la vita di Elvis: c'erano esibizioni "in piedi" di nuovi brani con Elvis vestito in abito di pelle memorabile e performance "sedute" dei più grandi successi di Elvis, interpretate al fianco di Scotty Moore e DJ Fontana.
Quando andò in onda il 3 dicembre 1968, lo speciale fu il programma televisivo più visto della settimana, ristabilendo Elvis come elemento trainante della musica popolare americana.
Elvis Presley, “Elvis: ’68 Comeback Special: 50th Anniversary Edition” viene pubblicato il 30 novembre come box set contenente 5 CD/2 Blu-Ray ed un libro di 80 pagine con foto rare ed I racconti delle interviste realizzate per il documentario recente “The Searcher”.
