Family Oral History Across the World

Presenting Oral history as a core part of family history the book demonstrates best practice in carrying out oral family history projects enabling students to get a real practical and theoretical grasp of oral history practice in a field which is often seen as a bit of an outlier in history. The numbers of people practicing family history is huge, and oral history can form a significant part of that history writing – but people need to know how to do it properly, and to engage with issues they will face in doing it. Adapting academic standards to family history, tis book is very different to what is out there on this subject since none of the current literature reviewed focuses on a comprehensive, experience-based process to collect and integrate oral histories with their supporting sources to write a single-family history.
