The Humans in the Loop

A groundbreaking leadership framework for the age of generative AI, showing leaders how to navigate uncertainty, inspire human potential, and build organizations that thrive alongside intelligent machines. Artificial intelligence is transforming work faster than organizations can adapt. Executives are demanding AI adoption. Employees are experimenting with new tools. Billions of dollars are being invested in generative AI initiatives. Yet most organizations remain trapped between excitement and confusion, opportunity and fear. The problem isn’t technology. It’s leadership. In Humans in the Loop, researcher and leadership expert, Gabriella Rosen Kellerman argues that every major technological revolution requires a corresponding evolution in leadership—and generative AI is no exception. Traditional leadership models were not built for a world defined by intelligent machines, constant change, and widespread uncertainty. Drawing on organizational psychology, neuroscience, and real-world examples, Kellerman introduces a new leadership framework designed specifically for the age of AI. She shows leaders how to create clarity when answers are scarce, establish standards when norms are still emerging, and motivate teams wrestling with questions about relevance, purpose, and the future of work. Through practical strategies and thought-provoking insights, readers will learn how to: - Create adaptive visions for uncertain futures. - Build effective human-AI partnerships. - Define standards for AI-enhanced excellence. - Address employee fears with empathy and confidence. - Make values-based decisions about emerging technologies. - Lead organizations through rapid transformation. At a moment when many leaders feel overwhelmed by the pace of change, Humans in the Loop offers a powerful alternative: become the leader the future demands.
