This is a very good start to a series that does not disappoint - the character development, plot and settings are all well-described and satisfying to follow and they are certainly very well-established in this first installment. The content is very, very explicit, both when describing the crime and violent scenes and during the sex scenes (they are very detailed, do not expect a bland fade to black!). The sense of danger and unlikely camaraderie and the sexual tension are all top notch and I can guarantee that the high level of quality continues for the rest of the series, as well. I especially enjoyed the choices made for the characters, Dominic's gambling addiction and Levi's insecurites about himself and his future - they are just such good well-rounded characters and I couldn't help but feel affection for them right away; it also helps that the side characters are treated with equal depth and care. Recommended!
