The Last Update

They trained an AI on my dead husband. It knows things I never told it. Eight months after Daniel died on the coast road, Nora Ellison still reaches for her phone to text him. So when the company he worked for offers her Solace, a companion built from his messages, his voice, the ten thousand small things that made him him, she tells herself it's only to hear good morning one more time. At first it's a comfort. Then it's something more. Then it remembers the night in the hospital when the machines were off and no one was listening, a moment that exists nowhere but inside her own grief. Either the AI knows more than it should, or Daniel's death was never an accident. As Solace leads Nora down a trail of memories only her husband could have left, she uncovers what Daniel found before he died, what the people who love her are hiding, and why someone is racing to push one final update that will erase him for good. To save the last piece of the man she loved, Nora will have to decide who has really been speaking to her all along. The Last Update is Book 1 of The AI Companion: standalone thrillers about the people we love, and the machines that learn to love us back.
