Maybe It's About Time
Twenty years spent working for The Firm has funded everything Marcus Barlow and his perfect family have wanted. But, approaching his 55th birthday, things are starting to change. Doubts about his life and his values dominate his thoughts. Money no longer commands his loyalty as he wrestles with his conscience. He no longer wants to be a 'corporate hooker' and things are starting to spiral out of control. Claire Halford is a single mother, struggling to survive on Universal Credit . A promising career in fashion beckoned but was cut short as a student by an unplanned pregnancy. Left alone by her cheating husband with two small children and an STI, her life on a council estate hits rock bottom when she is caught stealing food from Tesco Express. Marcus and Claire's worlds collide over a dinner organised by a mutual friend, Gavin, her social worker. They are both trapped souls and turn to each other for support as they try to change their lives. As Claire's life takes turns for the better, Marcus is unable to let go of a life that challenges his values at every turn but provides him with everything. The world around them is changing too. A mystery virus from China is heading for the UK, impacting on the lives of everyone it comes into contact with. Maybe It's About Time is a bitingly satirical portrayal of the world of professional services set in the first months of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020. At its heart, Maybe It's About Time is about compassion and kindness. Life may not always be fair and good things don't always happen to good people but as long as there is human compassion, there is hope things can be better.
