The Missing Wedding Ring

Two wedding rings. One marriage date. And a family secret that was never supposed to survive the estate. When estate clean-out specialist Nell discovers two nearly identical wedding rings in the home of the late Vivian Cross, the mystery begins with a simple question: Why would one woman have two rings engraved with the same initials and the same wedding date? Then Nell finds a note hidden beneath one of the boxes: If Amelia finds this, tell her I was sorry. No last name. No explanation. Just an apology to someone the Cross family insists they barely know. As Nell and Piper sort through sixty-three years of possessions, the rings lead them into Vivian's hidden past—a quiet marriage, an old family scandal, a daughter who disappeared from the family story, and decades of secrets carefully packed away. Then Clara Sloane, Vivian's longtime companion and one of the few people who knows the truth, is found dead in the carriage house. Suddenly, a missing ring is the least dangerous thing in the house. With Detective Adrian Shaw investigating the homicide and Nell trying very hard not to investigate it herself, the case begins to fracture into competing motives: money, inheritance, old resentments, missing letters, family loyalty, and one person who has far more to lose than anyone realized. To uncover the truth, Nell will have to figure out which secrets belong to the past—and which one was worth killing for now. The Missing Wedding Ring is Book Three of The Last Box Mysteries, a clean contemporary cozy mystery series featuring small-town secrets, an amateur sleuth, family history, light romance, and the forgotten objects that refuse to stay forgotten.
