Moss Effect

'Absolutely wonderful . . . This book is a treasure!’ – Sarah Beth Durst, bestselling author of The Spellshop, on Moss'd In Space Encounter a dangerous deadline, forced proximity and a plant with a plan of the second instalment of Rebecca Thorne's fabulously cosy Moss'd in Space series. If Torian Razner was taking bets, ‘getting stranded on an alien homeworld’ wasn’t on the list for today. (Moss had it at Possibility no. 3,794, but no one consulted the ship’s computer.) And yet, this is exactly where Torian finds herself – in a grassy field alongside (her definitely-not-girlfriend) Amelia Perrosk. Torian didn’t ask for this, but she certainly won’t complain about this forced proximity. And as her and Amelia traverse an alien landscape, things heat up, and Torian can’t quite remember why they shouldn’t be together. But if they don’t return to their ship in three days, Amelia's quartermaster will reveal the location of their vulnerable human colony to predatory smugglers. Fortunately, their snarky plant companion, Moss, is thrilled to try a distinctly human tactic: blackmail. **If you love Firefly's adventures in space, the lovable alien cast of Mass Effect and the cosiness of Legends & Lattes, this is for you. * * * Praise for Moss'd in Space: ‘Quality tells and this is quality. Thorne has the gift of being very funny, with the book's humour elegantly wrought’ – New Scientist ‘[A] warm and witty sci-fi adventure’ – Daily Mail ‘The cozy, found-family warmth of Becky Chambers' – Sci-Fi Now, Best Sci-Fi Books: July 2026
