A new Mozart that is a lot of fun" praised Audio the first album from the "New Mozart" series by treasure hunter Reinhard Goebel and the Mozarteumorchester Salzburg. And again conductor Reinhard Goebel found real musical treasures for the second album, which is all about Mozart's music.
On "New Mozart Vol. 2" Reinhard Goebel and the Mozarteumorchester Salzburg present two world premiere recordings: These are orchestral arrangements of Mozart's music by his piano pupil Ignaz von Seyfried (1776-1841). A prolific composer, musician and conductor himself, Seyfried composed over one hundred stage works and even conducted the premiere of the original version of Beethoven's Fidelio in 1805.
For "New Mozart Vol. 2" Goebel chose the "Grande Fantaisie" in C minor, which includes Mozart's Piano Fantasy in C minor, KV. 475 and the Piano Sonata KV. 457 and shines in all its colourful splendour through the Mozarteum Orchestra. The second work, the "Grande Fantaisie" in F minor, is also a real discovery. In it, Seyfried successfully combines two exquisite piano compositions by Mozart, namely the Piano Quartet in G minor, KV. 478 and the Organ Fantasy in F minor, K. 608. 608. The Mozarteum Orchestra lets this special arrangement resound in all its fullness. Thus Reinhard Goebel makes another unique discovery on "New Mozart Vol. 2" and allows Seyfreid's music to be heard again for the first time since 1840.
