Passé It On

A teenage dancer moves from the Philippines to New York to chase her ballet dreams—only to discover that getting everything she wanted may be the hardest challenge of all. Jaime is poised for a breakthrough. She’s just moved from the Philippines to New York to focus on ballet, and it feels like the world is finally opening up for her. So why does she feel like she’s falling short? In a world where one wrong move can make or break a dream, Jaime has landed exactly where she wanted to be. But the pressure to be perfect doesn’t stop at the studio door. As school, friendships, family responsibilities, and mounting anxiety throw her life off balance, Jaime begins to wonder what pursuing her passion is costing her—and who she can rely on when she can’t hold everything together on her own. A moving YA graphic novel about ambition, immigration, anxiety, and belonging, Passé It On captures both the beauty and the punishing pressure of ballet while asking what happens when the dream you’ve worked toward collides with the messy reality of growing up. An Eisner Award–winning indie comics creator and comics professor, Danielle Chuatico makes their YA publishing debut with a deeply personal story.
