Supplementation with PS supplements (supplements with pharmaceutical standards) must follow some new rules concerning the quality of the products and their pharmaceutical consistency. The new field of ‘supplementary medicine’ - based on PS supplements - is expanding, replacing many alternative or complementary methods associated to poor science, limited results or without evidence. Supplement studies (usually registries) define the field of activity of PS supplements and possible, preventive, preferably non-clinical or pre-clinical applications. They are planned and organized with the full attention and participation of the evaluation subjects. Safety is the first point to define. All PS supplements are by definition recognized as safe (RAS). The best fields of application for PS supplements are preclinical, borderline ‘preventive’ applications or the supplementary management of some risk conditions. Supplements - unless there are specific claims - are not generally used as the main standard treatments of signs/symptoms or severe clinical conditions. Supplementary medicine and PS supplements are the new method & tools to perform a softer, effective and low-risk, shared, com-part medicine. PS supplements are not drugs (all drugs are quoted in the Goodman & Gilman’s: The Pharmacological Basis of Therapeutics; Mc Graw Hill). PS supplements create a bright clinical and business future.
