Scrittrice inglese. Ha studiato storia al Somerville College di Oxford. È autrice di numerosi romanzi di successo, tra cui Georgy Girl (da cui sono stati tratti l’acclamato film Georgy, svegliati e un musical di Broadway), Lasciando il mondo fuori (La Tartaruga 2011), i due bestseller autobiografici Hidden Lives e Precious Lives e varie biografie, inclusa la pluripremiata Daphne du Maurier: The Secret Life of the Renowned Storyteller.Nel 2014 e/o pubblica il suo La damigella sconosciuta.
