Russian through Film: For Intermediate to Advanced Students

- A content-based and multi-skill blended approach that uses real-life content in the form of contemporary films. - Designed to help intermediate and advanced level students of Russian develop their linguistic and analytical skills, and increase their intercultural competence. - Linguistically, students will expand their vocabulary by approximately 1300-1400 lexical items, including specialized vocabulary for discussing films, improve their narration and description; and learn to discuss films both in the interpersonal and presentational modes of communication. - Students will enhance their analytical skills by learning to analyze films, including the main characters, conflicts, and the film structure, both orally and in writing, and write film reviews. - Learners will increase their intercultural competence by identifying, comparing, and contrasting cultural practices, products, and perspectives that are similar and those that are different in the Russian culture and in the students’ own cultures.
