Dal 1986 inizia a scrivere sceneggiature per la televisione (è autore – premiato – di moltissimi episodi della serie Jack Frost, andata in onda dal 1992 al 2010 e di Dalziel and Pascoe, che conta ben 12 stagioni). Si è poi voluto dedicare alla narrativa e, per raccogliere spunti e idee, ha viaggiato in tutto il mondo. Tra i suoi libri: La spada del lupo (TRE60, 2019).
