Il 28 agosto sarà pubblicato per Polydor/Universal “S&M2”, il nuovo album live dei Metallica. “S&M2” ci permetterà di rivivere i concerti evento tenutisi a San Francisco il 6 e 8 settembre 2019, che hanno riunito i Metallica e la San Francisco Symphony per la prima volta dopo le storiche esibizioni del 1999, immortalate nell'album S&M, poi vincitore di un Grammy. Gli show, entrambi sold out e che hanno visto una partecipazione di pubblico proveniente da oltre 70 paesi del mondo, sono stati definiti da Consequence of Sound come “una vera celebrazione dei Metallica e della loro bravura musicale”.
Prodotto da Greg Fidelman con James Hetfield e Lars Ulrich, S&M2 contiene più di due ore e mezza di musica dal vivo dove James, Lars, Kirk Hammett e Robert Trujillo suonano insieme alla SF Symphony, diretta da Edwin Outwater.
L’album sarà disponibile in un'incredibile varietà di formati fisici che vanno dalle versioni 4LP in vinile, 2CD, DVD e Blu-ray, a un'edizione limitata, Deluxe box, che contiene 4 vinile a colori + 2CD + Blu-ray con spartiti, plettri per chitarra, poster e altro ancora. Ci sarà anche un’edizione per gli store indipendenti dei 4LP in formato colorato, oltre alle accoppiate 2CD con DVD e 2CD con Blu-ray.
