SOILED HANDS: Confessions of a Gabonese Pastor at the Gates of Hell is a raw and unflinching testimony. From the opening prologue — a packed sports hall in Créteil, France, three thousand believers hanging on every word, while a sepulchral voice whispers inside the preacher's mind: "You speak of Him, but it is to me that you belong" — the reader understands that this book is unlike any other. It is neither a sermon nor a self-help guide. It is a public confession. Part I — The Child of the River traces the origins of the fall. Élie grows up in abject poverty in the Glass neighbourhood of Libreville, Gabon. Watching a prosperous pastor arrive each Sunday in a gleaming Mercedes while destitute mothers empty their savings into offering baskets, he does not experience a spiritual awakening — he decodes a system. From the back pew, he studies the mechanics of the crowd, the calculated theatrical silences, the art of emotional manipulation. Then a shadowy figure named Prophet Nzamba intercepts him at the edge of the temple and invites him to a predawn meeting on the banks of the Komo River. What begins there, in the humid darkness of the equatorial forest, is a pact. A door opened to forces that will never let go easily. Part II — The Empire of Shadows documents the vertigo of success. Eighteen years. Television channels, bodyguards, a custom-made Italian suit, a private communications team that gathers intelligence files on the faithful so that the pastor can deliver "prophetic" revelations. Lodges, secret pacts, forest fetish priests — all feeding an insatiable empire. The chapter The Cash Register Theology exposes how faith was transformed into a market, where healing, deliverance, and access to the pastor were priced and sold. The chapter The Bottom of the Abyss — the one the author says he never wanted to write — descends into the darkest corridors of what was built behind the spotlights. Part III — The Fall begins when the invisible forces that enabled the rise begin to exact their tribute in the most terrifying currency. The nights of terror, the crack appearing in the prophet's mask, the Sunday without a crowd — everything the author built collapses. In The Night I Cried for the First Time in Twenty Years, the man who staged the emotions of thousands finally confronts his own. Part IV — Stepping Out of the Darkness is not a triumphalist restoration narrative. It is the longest road. The author dismantles, from the inside, the real theology of deliverance — not oil bottles sold at the altar, but the quiet, free, unhurried work of grace. He addresses young men seduced by the mirage of pastoral celebrity, and closes with a personal letter never sent — offered openly as his final confession and the price of his freedom. Grounded in 20 concrete signs to recognize a true servant of God, and anchored throughout in unmanipulated Scripture, SOILED HANDS is both an act of courage and a shield: if a single reader escapes manipulation because of these pages, the author writes, the shame of the confession will have been worth it.
