The Things We Never Buried

Some secrets refuse to stay buried. Some hearts are afraid of what the truth might reveal. When Mara Ellison returns to the quiet coastal town of Bellwether Point after her father's death, she expects to settle his affairs and leave the past behind. Then she discovers an old audio recording connected to Daniel Vale, a local coastguard volunteer who disappeared seventeen years ago during a violent autumn storm. The recording contains a detail that should not exist. A voice she recognizes. A name that changes everything. Determined to uncover the truth, Mara turns to Elias Ward, the guarded owner of the town's struggling radio station. Elias knew Daniel, and he has spent years trying to escape the painful memories surrounding his disappearance. He wants nothing to do with the past—until Mara uncovers evidence that challenges everything he thought he knew. As they investigate conflicting accounts, forgotten recordings, and secrets hidden behind respectable family names, their uneasy partnership begins to develop into something neither expected. Long nights at the radio station bring them closer, but every new discovery raises another question. What really happened to Daniel Vale? Why did so many people accept a story that may never have been true? And can Mara and Elias learn to trust each other when the truth threatens to destroy the fragile connection growing between them? In a town where everyone remembers something different, uncovering the past may be easier than living with what it reveals. The Things We Never Buried is an atmospheric contemporary romance with slow-burn chemistry, family secrets, emotional suspense, and a mystery that reaches far beyond one stormy night.
