When We First Met; Massimo

Seventeen years of suffering in silence. And it all leads to a dying confession in a stuck elevator. Massimo has been deeply, painfully in love with the same woman for nearly two decades: Sahfia Delgado. The only problem? When they first crossed paths, she was just a teenager, and crossing that line was absolutely not cool. Knowing he had to protect her at all costs, Massimo locked his desire away, focused on his brutal duties as a Death Merchant, and forced himself to stay clear. He intentionally broke her heart, adhering to the strict protocol and ruthless decrees of the Numinous Council. Over the years, the massive, innocent crush Sahfia once had on him curdled into a deep, burning hatred. And Massimo had to stand by and watch it happen, unable to say a word to change her mind. But destiny just dropped hands on his self-control. Ambushed by the Dark Numinous, Massimo is hit with a devastating, agonized Legacy Curse. Bleeding out and violently dying on the floor of a sleek office elevator, he watches the digital numbers tick down. He is ready to accept his fate. Then the elevator doors slide open. And stepping right into his death trap is Sahfia Delgado. Massimo is completely paralyzed as the one woman on the planet who cannot stand his guts stares down at his broken body in absolute shock. The curse is burning through his veins, and time has officially run out. Sahfia holds the rare, magical key to his survival—but after years of cold betrayal, will she choose to cure the monster who shattered her heart? Or will Massimo draw his very last breath as a Death Merchant on a concrete floor, watched by the girl he loved more than life itself?
