Sir Paul McCartney è un cantautore, compositore, musicista, produttore  discografico, attore, pittore e attivista inglese. Bassista dei Beatles (il gruppo che includeva anche John Lennon, George Harrison e Ringo Starr), dopo lo scioglimento ha proseguito la sua carriera sia come solista, sia fondando con la moglie Linda il gruppo Wings. Ha composto anche colonne sonore, musica colta e ambient. Oltre all'attività con i Beatles, insieme ai quali musica e interpreta diversi film, come solista compone i brani per il drammatico Questo difficile amore (1966) di R. Boulting, sulle difficoltà giovanili di vivere coi genitori, dove le arie romantiche vengono impreziosite dagli archi e la fanfara dei fiati riprende lo stile barocco.
