the bad kid

Described the story The Bad Kid Sam carries a legacy written in fire and blood. His biological father was once a good man—until his wife and child were murdered in a deliberate house fire, and justice was denied. Consumed by grief and rage, he hunted down everyone responsible, killing over two hundred people in five years, burning their homes just as his had been. Along the way, he raped Sam's mother, who was only sixteen; she gave him life but could not bear to look at him, seeing only the man who had hurt her. Raised tenderly by his grandmother from age three, Sam lost her too by ten, inheriting her home and fortune while his mother walked away. Haunted by the fear he is fated to follow his father's dark path, Sam struggles through adolescence, running away at fifteen, wrestling with the anger and darkness he feels in his bones. At twenty-two, he finds his father's journal—detailing every murder, every family destroyed—and faces the full horror of his bloodline. Instead of vengeance, he chooses amends: giving half his inheritance to the victims' families, bearing the weight of sins not his own. He builds a life of love and redemption—marrying, raising two daughters, breaking the cycle of violence. He learns that blood does not define him; what matters is who he chooses to be. Born in fire, raised in shadow, Sam becomes something his father never could: a man who chooses love.
