I am still a little bit confused by this book, not for the topic instead for the potential rating to give. I loved some parts of the book and some of them bored me. It was a weird mix, because also when I wasn't intrigued by the narration at the end there was always a climax that captured me back.
For this motivation I was keen on giving 3 stars, but the final was unexpected and incredibly powerful, so at the end was a solid 4 stars

Paul Murray è un autore irlandese. Il suo romanzo Il giorno dell'ape è entrato nella shortlist del Booker Prize nel 2023, vincendo nello stesso anno l'Irish Book Award. Nato a Dublino, ha frequentato il Blackrock College, un'esperienza che avrebbe poi fornito la base per le vicende raccontate in Skippy muore (Isbn, 2010). Ha studiato letteratura inglese al Trinity College di Dublino e successivamente ha conseguito un master in scrittura creativa presso la University of East Anglia. Ha anche trascorso un periodo a Barcellona, in Spagna, come insegnante di inglese.Nel 2025 Einaudi pubblica in Italia, Il giorno dell'ape, al tempo stesso affresco famigliare e ritratto della contemporaneità irlandese. Nello stesso anno il libro vince il Premio Strega europeo.
