The Checkout Girl

International bestseller Caz Frear returns with a deliciously dark suburban nightmare. Evelyn has traded a high-flying university HR career for the checkout at her local supermarket. A quieter life. A safer life. The kind of life you choose when you’ve left your last job abruptly, without a reference - and with something very ugly to hide. Then JP and Tara walk in. Young, beautiful and in love, they become Evelyn’s latest obsession. At first she only watches them. Then she gets closer. Then closer still. But when tragedy strikes, the question isn’t just what Evelyn has done. It’s what everyone else is hiding. Praise for Caz Frear: ‘A dark, addictive, suburban nightmare. Five Bad Deeds is an edge of your seat, up all night delight’ Chris Whitaker ‘Brilliant . . . so clever and the characters felt real. Whip smart and perfectly executed’ C. J. Tudor ‘Ferociously entertaining, spiky, bitchy, funny - and absolutely messed with my head in the most fun way. Bravo, Frear!’ Catherine Ryan Howard ‘Layered characters, gut-punching twists and beautifully written. This is addictive reading’ Jo Spain
