I Choose Myself

How much of your life have you spent being who everybody else needed you to be? The dependable one. The funny one. The successful one. The easy one. The one who never says no. And somewhere underneath all that bullshit—you disappeared. I Choose Myself is a raw, unfiltered novel about what happens when a man finally realizes he has spent decades building a life that looks right from the outside and feels completely wrong from the inside. He followed the rules. Chased success. Swallowed anger. Kept the peace. Said yes when every nerve in his body was screaming no. He became so damn good at being what everybody expected that eventually he couldn't remember who he had been before the performance started. Then the cracks show. And once he sees them, he can't unsee them. This expanded Second Edition goes deeper and hits harder than the original—into approval addiction, relationships, regret, identity, boundaries, aging, fear, success, loneliness, self-respect, and the brutal price of spending your one life auditioning for everybody else. There are no magic affirmations here. No ten-step formula. No motivational glitter. Just the uncomfortable truth: Nobody is coming to hand you your life. Eventually, you have to take it back. Some people won't understand. Some won't like the new you. Some may have loved you better when you had no boundaries. Let them. Because there comes a point when being accepted by everybody else costs too much. You don't need permission. You don't need unanimous approval. You need the courage to finally say: I CHOOSE MYSELF. Because here's the truth the narrator discovers: you're not broken. You're just buried. And the work of excavation—that's the work of a lifetime. And it's worth it. There is no finish line. There is no final version. There is only the journey, the process, the endless becoming. And it's enough. It's more than enough. It's everything. I am no longer waiting to be chosen. I choose myself. From the emptiness of achieving everything and feeling nothing, to the terror of being truly seen, to the liberation of building a life that finally feels like his own—this is a book for anyone who has ever wondered if they're living someone else's life. It's for the people-pleasers, the perfectionists, the ones who learned to disappear before they knew what it meant to exist. It's for the men who were taught that real strength means suffering in silence. It's for anyone, at any age, who suspects it's not too late to become themselves.
