Brought up on her seafaring grandfather's romantic, exciting tales as a young man visiting England just after the war, Anja is a young Polish student living in a small Essex coastal town. While studying languages in London, she hopes to rediscover the England of his stories. However, without money, without friends or any support network, she is increasingly lonely, homesick, and ready to return home. Had he made everything up? One morning, as she rides to the railway station to catch the London train, she falls from her motorcycle in pouring rain, triggering a set of remarkable events. Is this the day that Anja finally decides to quit, or the real start of her English adventure?
