In Heartville, secrets never stay buried for long… unless an entire town agrees to invent them. June, a restorer of rare and fragile books, lives among yellowed pages, careful varnish, and silences stacked in perfect order. Adam, a rough edged cabinetmaker, talks to oak like an old friend and turns every ordinary day into a pride match. They know each other too well, they rub each other the wrong way, and without ever saying it out loud, they have made a vow: neither of them will give an inch. When city hall forces them to work together to save the historic gazebo in the main square, their old rivalry flares back to life, sharper, closer, and far more dangerous. Before long, June feels something is off: coincidences that are too tidy, "impossible" schedules, knowing looks, whispered coordination, small manipulations… as if Heartville itself is running a plan. A plan designed to push them into each other's orbit. But what is a connection worth when it is engineered? Where does the game end, and where does the truth begin?
