The Curve Syndicate

At Blackwood University, getting good grades can get you killed. Blackwood is an elite university where ancient traditions are taken very seriously—and where the bottom forty percent of every class is quietly fed to the faculty. When scholarship student Sam Vance arrives at the centuries-old academy, he expects difficult exams, ruthless competition, and the usual misery of elite academia. He does not expect to watch a brilliant student get devoured because his grades are statistically inconvenient. The university calls it tradition. Sam calls it a problem with the numbers. As he digs deeper into Blackwood's hidden curriculum, he discovers a nightmare buried beneath its gothic halls: professors who are not entirely human, a supernatural grading system designed to determine who survives, and an ancient institution protected by rules older than the university itself. Fortunately, Sam understands rules. With the help of an anxious alchemist, a ventilation expert who knows the impossible spaces inside the campus, and students with very different reasons to hate the administration, Sam creates the Curve Syndicate—a secret student rebellion built around one simple idea: If Blackwood needs a perfect bell curve to feed its monsters, then break the curve. But surviving a cursed academy is harder than passing an exam. Between deadly academic competitions, forbidden knowledge, cosmic horror, institutional corruption, and professors who would happily turn a classroom into a slaughterhouse, Sam must find a way to weaponize the one thing Blackwood cannot control: the rules. The Curve Syndicate is the first book in Magna Cum Carnage, a dark academia horror series blending cosmic horror, dark fantasy, gothic atmosphere, black comedy, supernatural academia, and institutional satire. At Blackwood, the smartest students don't graduate. They get eaten.
