The compilation of this work is groundbreaking. It reflects upon the author's creativity, knowledge, innovative thinking, depth and impression of African development challenges. I see this as a great intellectual achievement as it assembles years of analysis from research, lessons learned from experience around the continent and personal insights on how the author envisions Africa in the future. The author in his work, through a transformative approach, suggests ways to address crucial development challenges, confronting the continent for a genuine economic integration which will be beneficial to all nation states. The continent of Africa, despite the abundance of natural resources, is one of the poorest continents of the world. The transformation process, as suggested by the author in this book, will result in the continent's utilization of the full potential of its available natural resources through a wide range of activities that deserve immediate attention, including research, development and innovations. The author, therefore, rightly says, "the success of the African countries in addressing development challenges of the continent will depend on its ability to reform and regenerate economies, governance and participatory planning in line with the development goals, as enunciated in the AU Agenda 2063". The "Africa We Want" is a collective endeavor that causes genuine leadership from nation state's cooperation towards integrated continental economies for the betterment of the people in Africa. The "Africa We Want" is conditional on a deep transformation in various sectors of the economy, including education, skills development, bio-sciences, health, infrastructure, industrialization, renewable energy, and so forth. The book is applauded for the endeavor of encouraging dialogue on the subject matters discussed and their relevance in the contemporary era as expounded in content.
