Steven Saylor si è laureato col massimo dei voti in Storia antica all’University of Texas ad Austin. Ha lavorato come editor per quotidiani e riviste e come agente letterario. In seguito al successo della serie che vede Gordiano come protagonista – e di cui Sangue su Roma costituisce il primo capitolo – ha tenuto numerose conferenze in varie università americane e ha collaborato alla realizzazione di due documentari sull’antica Roma trasmessi da History Channel.
