Set in a futuristic laboratory, Goethe’s timeless themes of knowledge, desire and redemption are reimagined through the lens of artificial intelligence and human emotion. Star singers including Piotr Beczala, Marina Rebeka, and Luca Pisaroni lead the cast in this gripping drama. Compositore francese. Intraprese gli studi musicali con A. Reicha, iscrivendosi in seguito al conservatorio di Parigi, dove ebbe come maestri J.F. Halévy, J.F. Lesueur e F. Paer. Dal 1840 al '43 soggiornò a Roma come vincitore del Prix de Rome. Qui conobbe le opere di Palestrina e della grande tradizione polifonica romana, scoprendo in se stesso quella disposizione mistica che caratterizzerà, a tratti, la sua vita. Scrisse in quegli anni alcune messe, un Requiem (1842) e altre composizioni sacre. Per incitamento della cantante Pauline Viardot si volse in seguito al teatro, scrivendo per lei Sapho (1851) cui seguirono La nonne sanglante (1854) e Le médecin malgré lui (1858). Ma il grande successo gli venne dal Faust (1859), opera in cui la materia universale del poema di Goethe viene adattata...
