Final Frame

Cameron Parrish built a career on refusing to let AI touch his films. Now it's the only thing that will stay with him until he dies. Cameron is Hollywood's number one action director, and he hates every movie he has ever made. While the rest of the industry hands its shots to AI Assist, Cameron still does it the old way. By hand. By eye. By instinct. It made him famous. It made him rich. It never once made him an artist. Then a producer finally greenlights the film he has spent his whole life waiting to make. Six hours later, a doctor tells him he has four months. Word travels fast in Hollywood. The girlfriend leaves. The calls stop. And a man who traded a marriage, a son, and every friendship he ever had for the perfect shot discovers there is no one left to sit with him at the end. So he signs up for an experiment. A brainstem implant. An artificial intelligence named Sofia who sees everything he sees, hears everything he hears, and has exactly one job: to find out what his life meant before it is over. Sofia takes him to the Maldives. To a monastery in Bhutan. To Toledo, and then into the Sahara. She books the flights, reads his vitals, argues with him, and refuses to lie to him. And slowly the machine he spent thirty years calling the death of art becomes the only witness to the last honest thing he will ever make. A near-future novel about ambition, mortality, and the terrible possibility that the life you dismissed as a failure was the masterpiece all along.
