James Clavell

James Clavell è stato un autore, sceneggiatore e regista australiano.Dopo aver studiato alla Grammar School di Portsmouth, si è arruolato nell'esercito inglese come artigliere. Durante la seconda guerra mondiale è stato prigioniero a Singapore ed è giunto poi negli Stati Uniti dove ha lavorato come sceneggiatore e regista. Ha debuttato alla scrittura nel 1958 con L'esperimento del dottor K., e alla regia nel 1959 con Cinque vie per l'inferno. Scrittore di fama internazionale, i suoi libri sono stati best seller tradotti in tutto il mondo. Bompiani ha pubblicato in Italia la trilogia ambientata nell’Oriente del passato, Sho¯gun, Gai-jin e Tai-Pan oltre a Il re e a La Nobil Casa. Nel 2024 da Sho¯gun è stata tratta una serie prodotta da Disney+.
