The Hammerschmidt Files

Former Foreign Legionnaire Max Hammerschmidt came to Namibia to disappear—to lose himself in the quiet vastness of the desert and leave the violence of his past behind. But in Swakopmund, a coastal town wrapped in cold Atlantic fog and old secrets, trouble has a way of finding him. Across seven interconnected cases, Max is drawn into a world of colonial-era mysteries, Cold War ghosts, diamond smuggling, human trafficking, and corrupt officials who will kill to keep the past buried. From a deadly fall at the historic Woermann Tower to a poisoned hymn in a crowded choir hall, from a sniper's nest in the Spitzkoppe mountains to a shakedown in the townships, Max must rely on his training, his instincts, and a small circle of trusted allies—including the resourceful Eugene, the barefoot tracker Simon, and the fierce Sarah—to unravel conspiracies that powerful people want to keep hidden. Rich in atmosphere and set against the haunting beauty of Namibia—a land of stark contrasts where the desert keeps its secrets and the ocean takes no prisoners—The Hammerschmidt Files is a collection of seven gripping novellas of mystery, action, and intrigue.
