Invasion

A mysterious landing in the Rockies throws the world into panic, and Thorn Hard finds himself trapped inside a silent, invisible prison while the sky above fills with helpless warplanes. What looks like an alien invasion is something colder and far more deliberate, and every hour of delay tightens the trap around an entire nation. Cut off from communication, hunted within the barrier, and forced to watch the world misread what is happening, Thorn is pushed into a fight that cannot be won by firepower. Every move risks exposure. Every mistake brings the enemy closer. The question is no longer whether the truth can be proven, but whether anyone will still be alive to act on it. As panic spreads and forces mass in the sky, the story narrows to one man’s effort to disrupt a plan already in motion. The tension comes not from battles, but from timing, improvisation, and the danger of being dismissed too late. Invasion builds steadily toward a confrontation where intelligence, nerve, and physical endurance matter more than weapons. Murray Leinster was one of the most prolific science-fiction writers of the twentieth century, publishing hundreds of stories across magazines such as Astounding Stories, Amazing Stories, and Science Fiction Quarterly. He is often credited with shaping early science-fiction adventure by grounding speculative ideas in technical detail and clear, fast-moving stakes. Invasion reflects his skill at combining large-scale geopolitical danger with immediate, personal jeopardy, a balance that made his work endure across decades of magazine readership.
